Gandiva Phinisi
One night aboard, with the bats at dusk and the ridge at first light
Updated 3 November 2026
A Komodo 2D1N itinerary for couples on Gandiva opens with Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong, then spends day two on Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island and the Taka Makassar sandbar. It is a private charter only, IDR 80,000,000 (≈ USD 4,908) for one to four guests, with one night on board.
One night aboard: bats at dusk, ridge at first light
Gandiva's shortest trip is sold only as a private charter, since the open trip runs 3D2N. You board in Labuan Bajo on day one, spend one night on board and are back at the pier on day two. The night's anchorage is the captain's decision, taken that day with an eye on the weather.
It is the route for a tight calendar when the two big frames are what you came for. The first is Kalong at dusk, when the fruit bats leave the mangroves over the boat. The second is Padar before sunrise, climbed with a head torch so that you stand on the ridge as the light comes.
Everything else is sand and water in between. Pink Beach, Komodo Island with a ranger and Taka Makassar fill the second day, and each is a landing rather than a long sail.
You'll find the route below. Read it as a list of stops, not a schedule: the captain orders them by wind, tide and park rules.

Day 2
| What happens | Have ready | |
|---|---|---|
| Breakfast before the first landing | ||
| Padar ridge at first light | shoes with grip, a head torch, water | |
| Pink Beach: swim and snorkel off the sand | reef-safe sunscreen | |
| Komodo Island walk with a park ranger | closed shoes, park ticket | |
| Taka Makassar sandbar, water level permitting Tide | hat, water, mask | |
| Back in Labuan Bajo on day 2; the time is confirmed in writing |
These stops swap order with tide and wind: Pink Beach ⇄ Taka Makassar.
Times are a plan, not a timetable. The pickup time is the one we confirm in writing; the captain sets the order of stops.
Day one: the harbour, then the bats
The harbour transfer in Labuan Bajo is in the fare, and we confirm the pickup time in writing when you book. On board you get your cabin keys and a safety talk, and lunch is laid at the table on deck.
Afternoon brings Kelor, a short steep climb with the harbour falling away behind you, then a swim off the beach. After that comes Manjarite, a reef you snorkel from the tender. Neither takes long, so day one stays compact.
Kalong is the last frame. In September the sun sets there at 17:58, and the bats start leaving the mangroves in the minutes before it. Dinner is on board after that.
Light check. At Kalong the sun is low in the west, so the sails and the bats read as silhouettes against a copper sky. Pack a light layer for the deck, and keep the camera strap round your wrist.
With just one night, keep Arjuna for yourselves: upper deck, balcony and all.
Day two, the ridge before sunrise and the sand after it
Breakfast comes first, then the landing at Padar. In September the sun rises over the ridge at 05:56. The climb begins in the dark, by head torch, in shoes with grip and with water in your bag. It is steep. If someone in your party shouldn't attempt it, tell us before you book.
After Padar the pace eases. Pink Beach is next, a swim and a snorkel off the sand, with reef-safe sunscreen on. Komodo Island follows, walked beside a park ranger. Dragons are possible and never promised.
Taka Makassar closes the day, a sandbar visited when the water level allows. Then the boat turns for Labuan Bajo, and we confirm the arrival time in writing, because wind and tide set it.
A flight that day should leave after 14:00. On a charter we can set the boarding and finishing times around it, which an open sailing cannot do.
What the short version costs for your party
The 2D1N charter is priced by party size, for the whole boat. One to four guests pay IDR 80,000,000 (≈ USD 4,908). Five to eight guests pay IDR 85,000,000 (≈ USD 5,215). Nine to twelve guests pay IDR 90,000,000 (≈ USD 5,521). The anniversary sum for two is IDR 40,000,000 (≈ USD 2,454) each, and for four it is IDR 20,000,000 (≈ USD 1,227) each.
Put that next to the three-day charter at IDR 100,000,000 (≈ USD 6,135) for the same band. The fare is lower; the cost is a day, a night, Manta Point, Sebayur and Kanawa.
In the fare: the harbour transfer, crew and cruise director, daily meals, coffee, tea, water, snacks, fruit, air-conditioned ensuite cabins, towels, life jackets and snorkelling gear. Outside it: the guide, photo and video documentation, the park ticket, flights, hotels, alcoholic drinks and tips.
A guide or a photographer can be added on request, each with its own written quote, never buried in the fare.
| Guests | per boat | per person |
|---|---|---|
| 1–4 | IDR 80,000,000 (≈ USD 4,908) | IDR 20,000,000 |
| 5–8 | IDR 85,000,000 (≈ USD 5,215) | IDR 10,620,000 |
| 9–12 | IDR 90,000,000 (≈ USD 5,521) | IDR 7,500,000 |
What a single night leaves out, and how to add it back
One night means a shorter list. Manta Point is not on this route, and neither are Sebayur and Kanawa. The longer reef time, the drift snorkel and the last swim before the pier belong to the three-day route.
There is no shared day trip either. Gandiva's price list holds none, so the shortest trip is this one, with a night on board. If you want a first look at Komodo in a single night, this is the route; if you want a day trip, we do not sell one on this boat.
To add back what is missing, choose the three-day route. It keeps everything above and adds the third morning, with Manta Point on day two and Sebayur and Kanawa on day three. It is also the only length that runs as an open trip, so Arjuna becomes possible at the seat fare of IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) per person.
Two days won't feel like four, and we'd rather you knew that before paying. Give us the number of days you can spare, and we'll name the route that fits.
