The boat, her crew and the people who book her

Gandiva is a two-masted sailing phinisi, built for the waters around Labuan Bajo. Her full name is Gandiva Phinisi, and her hull is marked KLM GANDIVA. She measures 28.5 m by 5.2 m, and a Mitsubishi 6D16 engine drives her at 6 to 9 knots.

The name is that of Arjuna's bow in the Mahabharata, and the five cabins carry the names of the Pandawa: Arjuna, Nakula, Sadewa, Bima and Yudhistira. She takes 12 guests, with a crew of 6 and a cruise director in the fare.

Under sail she carries four sails on two masts, and the exterior photographs on this site show her that way. The sails are what you photograph from the tender, so keep the camera ready on the first morning.

Once 50 percent is paid the date is yours, and we put the cabin and the dates in writing that same day. We send the invoice for the remainder with its exact date, which falls 30 days ahead of sailing.

Seven days before you sail we ask for the name and passport details of every guest. The park and the harbour need them in advance, and the names must match the boat's manifest. We buy the park tickets in each guest's name and confirm the pick-up time in writing.

Anything you want added, such as a cake, a decorated cabin, a dinner on the sand or a photographer, we quote in writing first. Nothing is added to a booking without that quote.
