Gandiva Phinisi

Five doors on two decks, and only one opens onto a bath

Updated 3 November 2026

On Gandiva, a Komodo phinisi, the cabin with a private balcony and bathtub is Arjuna: an upper-deck double with sea-view windows, at IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) per person on the open trip. Four other cabins follow, from IDR 9,000,000 (≈ USD 552) a person. Every cabin is private, ensuite and air-conditioned, and a cabin sells to two guests.

Check Arjuna's dates

Five doors, three with the sea in the window

Gandiva has five cabins, and none is shared with another party. Three are on the upper deck with sea-view windows: Arjuna, Nakula and Sadewa. Two are on the lower deck with portholes: Bima and Yudhistira. Each has its own bathroom with hot water, air conditioning, a chiller and a safe box.

Arjuna is the cabin with a private balcony and a freestanding bathtub, and no other room on the boat has either. Nakula and Sadewa are matching doubles. Bima is a lower-deck double. Yudhistira is the family cabin, with one double bed and two single beds for two to four guests.

Choosing comes down to what you want most. The balcony and the bath mean Arjuna. The sea at the window means one of the three upper cabins. The lowest fare means the lower deck. Decide in that order and the right door picks itself. The lower deck has portholes, and we won't call a porthole a sea view.

Arjuna: the balcony, the bathtub and the bed that faces the glass

In the boat's photograph the double bed faces the windows and the freestanding bathtub stands right beneath them, so you can lie in the bath and watch the sea. A balcony of Arjuna's own opens from the same room. The towels on the bed have been folded into a swan.

Plan the shots from the door inward. Shot 1 is the bath in the last light before dinner, with the window behind it. Shot 2 is the balcony in the morning, before the others are up. Shot 3 is the bed itself, with the glass beyond. You won't need a photographer for any of them; just bring the camera.

Arjuna sells first. One party takes it on any sailing, so a couple who book late can find it gone. On a private charter there is no queue; it's yours to give out. The seat fare is IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) per person, two sharing, and the open-trip fare carries a guide plus photo and video documentation.

Nakula and Sadewa: matching sea-view doubles on the top deck

Nakula and Sadewa are upper-deck cabins with sea-view windows and a double bed in each. They are matched in price at IDR 10,000,000 (≈ USD 613) per person and matched in what they offer. Neither has a balcony or a bathtub.

Pick them when the window matters more than the bath. They suit a second couple travelling beside you, two friends who want separate bathrooms and a view, or two of you who prefer to keep the budget for the extras around the trip. Up on the top deck you see the sea from the pillow.

If you are celebrating with another couple, the two cabins are the natural pair next to Arjuna. Who gets the bath is your conversation, though we'd suggest drawing for it and sharing the balcony photographs afterwards.

Both cabins have the same air conditioning, chiller and safe box as the rest, and each has a bathroom of its own with hot water.

Bima, below deck: the quiet double

Bima is a double on the lower deck with a porthole where the upper cabins have a window. It carries the same air conditioning, ensuite bathroom, chiller and safe box, and its fare is IDR 9,000,000 (≈ USD 552) per person, the lowest on the boat together with Yudhistira.

Compare it with Nakula. You lose the sea view and pay less. You keep a private bathroom, a proper double bed and the whole of the boat's decks. Because the cabin sits below the places where guests gather, it is the one to ask for if you plan to go to bed early and rise for Padar in the dark.

A porthole isn't a window, so here is Bima as it is: a quiet lower-deck double for guests who spend the daylight outdoors and want a bed and a bathroom at the end of it.

A lone traveller can take Bima too, paying for two, which makes it the lowest solo fare on the boat.

Yudhistira: one double, two singles, room for four

Yudhistira is the family cabin, on the lower deck, with a porthole. It holds one double bed and two single beds, so it takes two guests, three or four. Two guests pay IDR 9,000,000 (≈ USD 552) each, the same as Bima, and a third and fourth guest pay IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) each.

On an anniversary trip it suits parents travelling with their grown children, or a couple who bring two friends. Four people share one bathroom, so tell us the ages and habits of your party and we'll say whether one cabin will do or you need two.

A child up to age 2 travels free; from age 3 the fare is full. There is no cot and no child seat on board.

Worked out for four, the cabin is two seats at IDR 9,000,000 (≈ USD 552) and two at IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399). Add the numbers yourself or ask us for the total; we write it out in the quote. It is cheaper per head than two double cabins, and less private.

Per seat, per cabin: the fare list in rupiah

The table shows every open-trip fare for the three-day, two-night route, per person, with at least two guests to a cabin. Park tickets, flights and hotels are separate lines. The fare is one all-in figure, with no separate fuel line or tax line.

For an anniversary the sum is simple. Two of you in Arjuna pay 2 x IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706). Two couples who want the best two cabins take Arjuna and Nakula: two seats at IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) and two at IDR 10,000,000 (≈ USD 613). Add them and compare with the whole boat at IDR 100,000,000 (≈ USD 6,135) for one to four guests; the seats are far less.

With bigger parties the picture shifts. For eight guests the seats still cost less than a charter at IDR 105,000,000 (≈ USD 6,442). At twelve guests the charter is the smaller bill, though it carries no guide and no documentation.

Fares as of 3 November 2026, valid for the 2026 and 2027 sailings on the calendar; we confirm your date in writing before payment. A cabin sells to two, so one traveller pays for two.

What stops a cabin fare short

A cabin fare pays for your bed and bathroom, the harbour transfer, three meals daily, unlimited coffee, tea and mineral water, snacks, fruit, towels, life jackets, snorkelling gear, local Wi-Fi, and the boat's crew and cruise director. The open trip adds a guide, and photo and video documentation made by camera, GoPro and drone.

It stops short of the park ticket, flights, excess baggage, hotels before and after, personal expenses, the national park drone fee, travel insurance, alcoholic drinks and crew tips. Scuba divers need dive insurance. Nothing is added to your bill without a written quote.

The table below lists both sides line by line. The park ticket and the card fee are the two lines people don't expect. The ticket is the park package for your trip type, quoted on its own line. Paying by card link costs 3 percent more, by PayPal 7.2 percent, and at the Labuan Bajo terminal 3 percent.

If a line you expected is missing, ask us first and we'll answer in writing.

FAQ

What is the all-in price per person for a cabin?

On the open trip the fare is one figure per person for 3D2N, two sharing: IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) in Arjuna, IDR 9,000,000 (≈ USD 552) in Bima. It is one all-in figure, with no separate fuel or tax line. The park ticket is its own line, and a card link adds 3 percent.

Can I share a cabin with another traveller?

No. Gandiva has no shared-bed cabins. Each cabin is closed to other parties and has a bathroom of its own, and you pay per guest with two to a cabin at least. Four cabins are doubles for two, and Yudhistira holds two to four guests.

What is left out of the cabin price?

The park ticket, flights, hotel nights, alcoholic drinks, crew tips and travel insurance. Meals, coffee, tea, water, snorkelling gear and, on the open trip, the guide and photo documentation are in the fare. We add nothing without a written quote.

Can I book a Komodo trip for 2027 already?

Yes. 2027 prices are the ones on this page, and open trips sail on Mondays and Fridays from March. January and February 2027 are annual maintenance, so there are no trips in those two months. We confirm your cabin and date in writing before you pay.
