The terms behind every Gandiva booking, in plain words

Booking terms for Gandiva Phinisi: 50 percent down secures the date, the rest follows 30 days ahead of sailing, and notice of 60 days or more brings back 50 percent. If Gandiva cannot sail, you choose a replacement boat or a full refund.
The deposit that secures the date, then the later balance
50 percent of the fare, paid as a deposit, secures the date. The rest is payable 30 days before departure, and the invoice states the exact day. If you book inside that window, the full amount is paid at once.
On the departure day itself you can instead pay the rest in cash or at the Labuan Bajo card terminal. The terminal adds 3 percent. A card link adds 3 percent and PayPal adds 7.2 percent. Wise, Revolut, QRIS and bank transfer in rupiah add no fee from us, and your own bank can add one.
The prices on this site are the current list. You receive the figure for your date in writing, ahead of any payment. The park ticket is a separate line, and so is anything you ask us to add.

Deposit 50% to confirm, balance 30 days before departure. You can also settle the balance in Labuan Bajo on the departure day, in cash or by card on the EDC machine. Fees: card payment link 3%, PayPal 7.2%, EDC card machine 3%. Your issuing bank may add its own charges.
If you cancel, and if you reschedule
Notice of 60 days or more brings back 50 percent. Notice of 30 to 59 days brings back 25 percent. Shorter notice brings back nothing. The table sets the scale beside the dates.
Moving the date is free with 30 days or more of notice. With 14 to 29 days the charge is IDR 500,000. Inside 14 days, a move counts as a cancellation. A new date is confirmed by us in writing, subject to the boat's availability.
A refund is paid once every condition is met, and we write down the amount and the date. A shortened trip or a change of itinerary brings no partial refund. The exception is a fault of ours, and then we offer compensation. The captain decides which stop comes first by wind, tide and park rules, and weather is never guaranteed.

If we cancel, you are refunded 100 percent · Refunds are paid within 2 days.
Gandiva off the water: swap boats or take a refund
On your date Gandiva can be held in harbour, by a breakdown or by a port or park order, and then there are two ways forward. Then we put another boat of the same or higher class at your disposal at no added cost, or you choose a full refund paid within 2 days (2×24 hours) once the conditions are met. The offer is written down for you before anything changes, and the decision is yours.
Should port rules close sailing that day, you hear from us in writing and we settle the next step together, within these terms. The boat is in annual maintenance in January and February 2027, and we do not take bookings for sailing then.
The boat has a shipowner of her own, and she has a website of her own. This booking is with PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, and these terms are ours.
Minors, insurance and the passport copy
Below age 3 a child sails free beside a parent or guardian; at 3 and older the fare is full. Yudhistira takes a third and a fourth guest on the open trip at IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) each.
Travel insurance is recommended for every guest. Dive insurance is mandatory for scuba divers. The fare leaves out flights, visas, hotels, the park ticket, the drone fee, alcoholic drinks, personal expenses and crew tips.
A week before sailing we must hold each guest's passport or ID details, with names spelled as the document spells them. The harbour and the park check them against the manifest, and a wrong name can delay boarding. Indonesian law governs these terms.
FAQ
Can we pay the balance on the day we sail?
Yes. You can settle the balance in cash or by the card terminal in Labuan Bajo on the departure day; the terminal adds 3 percent. If not, the rest is payable 30 days before departure; the invoice gives the date.
If the boat is swapped, do we pay more?
No. The swap boat is of the same or a higher class, and costs nothing extra. If you decline it, a full refund follows within 2 days (2×24 hours) once the conditions are met. We write the offer to you first, and you decide.
