An anniversary trip in Komodo on Gandiva means a two-masted phinisi from Labuan Bajo, five cabins and twelve guests at most. The two of you can take the Arjuna cabin, with its balcony and bathtub, for IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) each on a Monday or Friday sailing, or charter the whole boat from IDR 80,000,000 (≈ USD 4,908).

The Arjuna cabin, with a bathtub under the window and a balcony of its own

One room decides an anniversary trip on this boat. Arjuna is on the upper deck, with sea-view windows, a double bed, a balcony reserved for the cabin and a freestanding bathtub set under the glass. No other cabin on Gandiva has the balcony or the bath. In the boat's own photographs the towels on the bed are folded into a swan, and the tub is what you see first from the doorway.

Like the other four cabins, it has its own bathroom with hot water, air conditioning, a chiller and a safe box. Nothing in it is shared. If you plan one frame for the whole trip, plan this one: the two of you, a bath run after the day's last landing, the sea going dark in the window.

Now the catch. There is only one Arjuna, so on the open trip it sells first. Send us your date early and we write back to say whether it is still free. The seat fare is IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706) per person, two sharing.

Three days by the light: Kelor at four, Padar in the dark

The three-day, two-night route is the one built for an anniversary. It leaves Labuan Bajo and returns there. Day one: Kelor in the late afternoon, a snorkel at Manjarite, then Kalong at dusk. Day two: Padar with a head torch, Pink Beach, Komodo Island beside a ranger, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Day three: Sebayur and Kanawa, then the pier.

The frame that matters most comes on day one. In November the sun goes down over Kalong at 18:01. By then the fruit bats are leaving the mangroves, the sails are still up and gold along their edges, and two glasses are standing on the rail of the Arjuna balcony. Nobody needs to ask when to be on deck. The time is on the plan the night before.

Next morning the sun rises over Padar at 05:31 in November, and the climb starts in the dark, about an hour earlier. Wind, tide and park rules decide the captain's order of stops, so we can promise you the places, never the sky. The full day-by-day table sits on the three-day itinerary page.

Light check. At Kalong the sun sets in the west, so a camera pointed at the sails gives you silhouettes; turn round for the soft side of the sky. Bring a light layer, because the deck cools once the sun has gone.

Two in Arjuna, or the whole hull: both prices

You can pay for the same three days in two ways. On the open trip you take Arjuna and other guests fill the remaining cabins. For two of you that is 2 x IDR 11,500,000 (≈ USD 706), with a guide and photo and video documentation already inside that fare. On a private charter nobody else sails, and the 3D2N price for one to four guests is IDR 100,000,000 (≈ USD 6,135), which is IDR 50,000,000 (≈ USD 3,067) each if only the two of you sail. The per-person column in the table divides each band by its largest party (4, 8 or 12 guests), so read the two-guest figure here.

That is a big gap, so it helps to know what the extra money buys. A charter gives you every deck, the lounge and the timetable, with no other party aboard. It does not include a guide or a photographer; both are available on request, quoted separately. The shot list is yours, and the camera is yours unless you add a photographer.

For parties of five to eight the charter is IDR 105,000,000 (≈ USD 6,442), and for nine to twelve it is IDR 110,000,000 (≈ USD 6,748). Twelve is as many as she takes; a thirteenth guest means a second boat. The park ticket is a separate line on either bill.

Cake, flowers and lanterns on the sand: priced first, added after

The boat's own photo folder holds a night aerial of a dinner on a beach: lanterns set in a circle on the sand and a table in the middle. That is a service we can arrange on request, and it is not part of any fare. The same goes for a cake, flowers, room decoration and a photographer.

You tell us what you'd like and the date. Within one working day we reply with a written quote for each item, and nothing is added to your booking until you have read it and said yes. None of them is free, and none is folded into a fare.

Two things to know. Where a beach dinner can happen on your day is for the route, the weather and the captain to settle, so we confirm the place in writing and never promise it months ahead. And a photographer is not on board unless you add one, which matters because the open-trip documentation and the private-charter fare are different things. Ask early and you have an answer for your dates.

Harbour transfer included

The fare pays for the ride to the pier, and the pickup time reaches you in writing at booking.

When a party outgrows the standard vehicle, a Toyota HiAce van for up to twelve or a larger coach replaces it, and we quote the change before it is added.

Lanterns on the sand

A dinner for two on the sand, with lanterns in a circle as in the boat's own photograph, arranged when you ask and priced before it joins your booking.

Mondays and Fridays: the sailings you can book

The open trip sails on Monday & Friday, 3D2N only, from Labuan Bajo and back. The first date on sale is Friday, 6 November 2026, and the full list of 101 dates sits on the Monday and Friday sailings page. A private charter can start on any date the boat is free.

One gap is fixed. January and February 2027 are the boat's annual maintenance, and nothing sails then. Open trips resume on 1 March 2027. If your anniversary falls in those two months, a charter will not help either; the closest we can offer is the sailing before or after.

Cabins sell in pairs, so think of the calendar that way. Send two or three dates that suit you; we match them to the nearest Monday or Friday and write back with the cabins still open on each. We do not hold a date the boat has not confirmed.

Booking and paying, message to gangway

Start on WhatsApp. Your date, the number of guests and the cabin you'd like are enough. Back comes a cabin plan, then a price you can read out to your partner without reaching for a calculator.

Pay 50 percent as the deposit. Settle the rest 30 days before sailing, or hand it over in cash or at the card terminal in Labuan Bajo on the departure day. A card link adds 3 percent, PayPal adds 7.2 percent and the card terminal adds 3 percent. Wise, Revolut, QRIS and bank transfer in IDR are also open.

You hold a booking with PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, a registered company in Labuan Bajo. Gandiva has a website of her own at gandivaphinisi.com; this site is where our team takes the booking. If Gandiva can't sail on your date, you get a boat of the same class or better at no added cost, or your money back.

Reviews of Komodo Explorer, the booking partner, from guests on other boats

“Loved the experience — the team and crew are the best.”

“We watched the most gorgeous sunset while thousands of flying foxes (kalong) started flying above us against the orange sky. The crew knew exactly where to position the boat for the best view.”

FAQ

What actually separates one Gandiva cabin from another?

Every cabin is a closed room of your own, ensuite and air-conditioned. Arjuna alone has the balcony and the freestanding bathtub. Nakula and Sadewa are upper-deck sea-view doubles, Bima is a lower-deck double, and Yudhistira holds two to four guests on one double and two single beds.

What does the fare include, and what do I pay on top?

On a charter you pay for the harbour transfer, the crew with their cruise director, breakfast, lunch and dinner, hot drinks and water, towels and snorkelling gear. Extra: a guide, photo and video documentation, the park ticket, flights, a hotel, alcoholic drinks and crew tips. The open trip adds the guide and documentation.

Is Gandiva set up for diving or only for snorkelling?

Snorkelling. The fare includes snorkelling gear, and no diving equipment is listed on board. Manjarite, Taka Makassar and Manta Point are snorkel stops, reached from the tender. A certified diver should ask us before planning around dives.

Who am I paying when I book through this site?

You book with PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, registered in Indonesia under NIB 1805260128363 and based in Labuan Bajo. Payment goes to the company account named on your written invoice. No guest has reviewed Gandiva on this site yet, and we show no stars or invented quotes.
